The School
The Bujinkan New York Dojo (Bronxville, NY) is one of the oldest members of the International Bujinkan Dojo schools located in New York State. Our training focuses on traditional Japanese samurai and ninja martial arts. Weekly lessons are offered in unarmed combat as well as two-person traditional weapon forms. We offer instruction in these traditional arts of the Bujinkan Dojo under the authority of Joe Maurantonio (Shidoshi) as taught by Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi in Noda, Japan.
The Students
New students are encouraged to participate as often as they are able and commit to attending at least one class a week. All testing and ranks are licensed through the Bujinkan Dojo, Noda, Japan.
The Training
Budo Taijutsu is a generic term that refers to the collection of nine traditional Japanese martial arts of the Bujinkan. Budo Taijutsu teaches effective methods of self-protection using timing, distancing, and angling. Weaponry, striking, grappling, choking and throwing as well as methods of leaping and rolling are all disciplines that are incorporated into our curriculum. Training is non-competitive which allows students to focus on developing mind and body through the natural movements of our martial art - without focusing on strength or speed training. Because of this, our training maintains a positive learning environment and family-like atmosphere.
Notes:
- Bujinkan - "Warrior Spirit Training Hall"
- Bujinkan Dojo - a martial arts organization
